Last year’s Bonn City Sound Artist Robin Minard has created a new sound installation in the aftermath of his 2022 projects. His new work “Endangered Soundscapes” was conceived for the 2023 Beethovenfest and is installed in a container on the downtown square in front of the festival headquarters Kreuzkirche.

“Endangered Soundscapes” combines soft delicate sounds coming from hundreds of small “piezo” loudspeakers, together with recordings of natural soundscapes and animal noises: sounds of water, wind, insects, birds, frogs, as well as composed soundscapes based on field recordings of natural environments. Field recordings were made primarily in South America, Australia and Germany, including the Bonn region.

The installation allows visitors to listen to distant, imaginary or forgotten soundscapes, as well as to soundscapes that may soon no longer exist.
